Uno Design Build
Uno always has a number of things on the go but one of our main projects at the moment is a complete home design and build. The aim was to build a 240 sqm home that was easy to live in and economical to build, all without sacrificing style. We also wanted to minimise environmental impact. To do this we decided on a steel barn like structure on a concrete slab. While the components aren’t that much cheaper, labour costs are, as its much quicker to erect, with simple industrial lines replacing complicated finishing work. The steel also allows big spans for serious joinery (double glazed) that soaks up the sunlight for passive heating and maximises the site views. Another advantage is that once the structure is clad all work is inside, so no more weather hold-ups.
